Knitted Collage, Thursday, February 16th. : colour and texture
Using architectural images as inspiration, we will get creative with coloured paper and pencils to create graphic collages that we will then translate into chart form, ready to make your own unique knitted collage from. You will cover how to translate basic blocks of colour and texture from your collages, into a knitting chart, the basics of intarsia, and how to combine colour and texture to add depth to your design. This class will give you a real insight into how I created many of the designs from her collection ‘Abstract’.
Homework: knit a tension swatch using Rowan Felted Tweed and 4mm needles and adjust needles accordingly to get ball band tension
Supplies: 4mm needles (or needle size used to obtain ball band tension for Rowan Felted Tweed), paper scissors, ruler, a small selection of colouring pencils, a pen, prit stick glue and masking tape. You will also need to bring a selection of Rowan Felted Tweed, part balls are ideal if you have any leftovers in your stash, at least 5 colours you like together.

Architectural lines, travelling cables Friday the 17th of February
Description: In this class Georgia will be sharing with you some of the ways that She uses deconstructed travelling cables, to create architectural solid lines in her knitted fabrics and designs. She will walk you through the simple cabling techniques I use, with a few extra twists, and you’ll get to try each one out yourself.
Supplies: 4mm needles, 2 balls of Rowan Alpaca Soft DK in different colours, cable needle (I’d recommend a hook-shaped one)
