Washi follows the tradition of Japanese paper yarns with an extremely silky softness. Paper yarns have a lasting tradition in Japan and are often compared to silk in their qualities and character—cool in summer, warm in winter. Washi has good stitch definition and therefore shows lace patterns very nicely. The paper is twisted with a rayon thread to give the necessary stability to garments and accessories. It can be knit single strand for lace and light scarves. For garments, use Washi double strand or in combination with other yarns such as Niji and Asa.
